shift: mon-fri: 8 hour shifts between 6:30am-5:00pm (could offer weekends and evenings if candidate prefers)

summary: the registration services representative is responsible for providing support to facilitate patient access into the client's system by performing the pre-registration, registration and insurance verification functions. all communications are conducted in a manner consistent with positive patient relations and to protect the fiscal interest of the organization. all registration services representatives may be scheduled for all shift rotations all functions.

registration service representative job require candidates to:

  • performs registration functions.
  • registers patients and/or their representatives and completes associated paperwork.
  • greets incoming patients in a prompt and courteous manner and assists with their immediate needs.
  • gathers and/or verifies complete and accurate demographic and insurance information and enters that information into the computer.
  • obtains required signatures according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • processes and distributes registration paperwork according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • scans all insurance cards, identification cards, and all required documentation.
  • collects patient co-payments and deductibles as appropriate.
  • completes any specimen registrations accurately and within designated time frame.
  • completes order entry as required.
  • selects correct patient from master list or creates new patient record as required.
  • completes pre-registration process as required.
  • review daily reports to determine which patients require pre-registration.
  • review daily receipt of faxed, mailed or inter office mail orders to determine which patients require pre-registration.
  • verifies insurance information according to procedures.
  • completes insurance verification functions
  • verifies patient insurance benefits within established timeframes.
  • determines extent of coverage, certification requirements, and any other limitations or co-payment by contacting the appropriate insurance company.
  • reviews demographic and insurance information in computer for accuracy and completeness, identifying issues, and rectifying those problems as appropriate.
  • determines primary insurance liability in cases requiring coordination of benefits.
  • refers appropriate accounts to financial counselors for follow up.
  • maintains professional communications and responds to patient inquiries.
  • answers the telephone and provides information, as requested and as appropriate, to callers and to incoming public.
  • answers patient placement calls as required, according to procedure.
  • responds to questions of visitors and provides clear directions.
  • answers guest care calls as required.
  • maintains professional phone manners at all times.
  • performs other duties as assigned.

    technology skill base

    this position requires knowledge in computer technology that includes: windows, excel, sql query writing (sql server), visual basic, and the rest of the microsoft office suite.  experience with common dashboard tools is preferred.  requires the ability to navigate multiple sharepoint sites and crms.  individuals must possess the ability to learn and understand new software and other technology applications as introduced by clients and company.
