our client is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week) desktop support engineer in their chicago office.  the desktop support engineer's position will provide technology support as needed to the local office (chicago) and assist with managing the firm's desktop infrastructure in all offices. 

 

responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • participates as an infrastructure engineering representative on project teams for the design; development; implementation and/or integration of desktop and vdi environments.
  • creates application deployments in sccm and/or intune.
  • follows change controls procedures for deployment of applications.
  • develop and maintain standard operating procedures for physical and virtual desktop environments, and recommend changes based upon user needs.
  • recommend, develop, and implement testing strategies for software upgrades and all other third-party applications, and document results.
  • diagnoses and troubleshoots problems with the microsoft and/or citrix virtualization environments.
  • support security planning; assessment; risk analysis; and risk management.
  • follows established process and procedures for creating, updating, and closing tickets.
  • document reported user problems and resolutions.
  • maintain proper inventory of pcs, laptops, and printers.
  • manage video conferences and associated meetings.
  • provide excellent and friendly service to our users!
  • other duties as assigned.
  • education:

    bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

    training and/or experience:

     

  • 2-5 years of related systems engineering experience with 2+ years in the legal industry or other professional services industry.
  • 5+ years of direct user support, preferably in the legal industry or other professional services industry
  • certifications in one of the following are preferred:
  • microsoft modern desktop administrator
  • microsoft azure virtual desktop
  • citrix certified professional – virtualization (ccp-v)
  • vmware certified professional (vcp) in desktop and mobility (dtm)
  • demonstrated experience with microsoft, citrix, and/or vmware products and technologies.
  • demonstrated experience with software package/binary deployment (xenapp; thinapp; appv; sccm)
  • experience configuring microsoft group policy.
  • experience integrating and supporting microsoft windows 10 in a vdi environment
  • understanding of basic network technologies such as dns and dhcp.
