Security officer - united kingdom, farnborough, hampshire

we have an exciting opportunity to join us as a security officer at one of our date centres where there is room to progress into a supervisor in a short space of time!

responsibilities -

enforces access control policy using security devices, stanchions and barricades.monitor cameras and access control systems covering data halls and entry/exit doors.manages site temporary badges, processes site access authorization tickets, and maintains logs and records in accordance with the standard operating procedures. reforms metal detection searches where required. reforms metal detection searches where required.utilizes excellent customer service and communications skills in dealing with client employees, vendors, visitors, and contractors.patrols assigned areas checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked doors, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.responds to emergency and routine incidents including unauthorized incursions, fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, suspicious activities and people, flooding, hazardous materials, and facilities issues.clearly communicates all security issues, incidents, and policy violations to the psoc using two-way radio, telephone, or email.collects complete information for a detailed report and appropriate follow-up. prepares well-written reports and maintains strict distribution to "need to know" parties.maintains documentation and follows standardized procedures.required to know, follow, and enforce safe work practices, and to be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations.ensure all functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures. in the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representativeessential skills

ability to communicate clearly and concisely, sharing technical concepts to a varied audience.skilled in staff supervision, including assigning work and providing training.capable of learning a variety of security and safety device controls. maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff, and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.highly motivated, energetic, self-directed individual with analytical and problem-solving skills.advanced computer skills are mandatory.sia licence right to work in the ukfive-year checkable employment historyprevious experience working in a data centreabout company
