Nurse team leader - united kingdom, chester, cheshire

registered nurse required to act as team leader for a 14-year-old male with cerebral palsy, who has complex care needs, living in the chester area.

our client has complex care needs, and it will be the team leader’s responsibility to ensure that the support team provides effective care that is based on empathy, respect and compassion. you will write care plans and undertake risk assessments. you will be expected to supervise the support workers and train up new staff members in relation to complex skills, ensuring a high standard of competent care is being delivered.

you will be responsible for the day-to-day smooth running of the care provision which will include organising suitable rotas, supervising new staff members, and ensuring that all medications and medical supplies are ordered in a timely fashion.

you will liaise with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that our client maintains his health and progresses his independence within his given abilities.

you will be expected to develop a professional relationship with our client’s parents and ensure that they have time to remain as parents rather than being a required part of his care.

our client seeks someone who is well organised and flexible.

working hours: 35 hours per week, monday to friday, to suit the needs of the client.

rates of pay £21.00 to £23.00 per hour, dependent on experience.

we require an nmc registered level 1 nurse (either paediatric or adult), qualified for 1+ years. as our client has complex care needs, the successful candidate will have experience in working with people who have a learning disability, complex sensory needs, peg feeding, seizure management and oropharyngeal suctioning.

experience working in a family setting is desirable, as is experience working with adolescents.

good communication and it skills are essential, as is a full clean uk driving licence and confidence driving on motorways. all posts are subject to an enhanced dbs disclosure with child workforce barring.
