Assistant quantity surveyor - united kingdom, bridport, dorset

our client are a 5 star house builder and as a part of the commercial team you will be reporting to the senior quantity surveyor and will be expected to:

assist with maintaining cost control throughout developmentassist with accurate costing for each aspect of site developmentassist with compiling reports on costs and cash flows using the support systems available, as well as reports for the division as requiredassist with preparation of tenders and procurement of sub-contractors using group tender proceduresprocess subcontract orders, payments and variations, using excel and group payment system (coins)understand and assist with evaluation and agreement of variations and instruction.assist with controlling all commercial aspects and responsibilities with regards to respective rslsattend all team meetings as requiredgeneral departmental administrationprovide other appropriate ad hoc duties, and administrative support as and when requiredmaintain relevant filing systems and databasespromote and act in accordance with group values, systems, policies and proceduresensure compliance with group it systemsworking within the guidelines set out within the group policies and proceduresassist with the compilation of all weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as requiredbe aware of new materials and methods of construction which the company may employwhat we are looking for:

studying or recently qualified in surveyingmust carry a valid cscs cardhighly numerate with excellent attention to detail, able to gather, interpret and present data to facilitate preparation of budgets and subsequent valuationsmethodical, conscientious and organised, works to deliver high standardsintermediate to advanced level of proficiency with ms office and excel programs and a good standard of written english. ability to generate professional correspondence unaidedarticulate, clear and credible, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environmentable to work on own initiativestrong communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externallyself-disciplined, with demonstrably good time management skills and the ability to manage a number of prioritiesability to multi-task, and work efficiently and accuratelyteam player, and supportive of colleaguesprofessional and pleasant manner in dealing with internal and external customersour client offer numerous benefits that go with the role in question. they offer a competitive bonus scheme along with a car allowance and a large choice of other flexible perks.
