salary: gbp27,924 - gbp30,497 + 2.5% shift allowance

hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern between 6pm-6am

the security team are located at all sites within canterbury, including residential and academic buildings, and are often the first point of contact for students, staff and visitors. ensuring that staff maintain a professional and customer focused approach is integral to the post and that excellent service is delivered across an ethnically and culturally diverse higher education environment.

key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

ensure delivery of security, health and safety, pastoral, reception, parking and traffic related service.

take lead responsibility for the effective deployment and management of security personnel during their shift.

maintain high standards of performance and communication within the facilities & security team.

be the first point of contact for students and parents outside of normal working hours.

undertake and attend any training courses necessary to meet the skills required of the job.

motivate, effectively lead and direct all security personnel on shift to ensure effective delivery of the service.

assist the head of security with planning and co-ordinating the on-going development of security procedures.

take referrals from other security officers where they are unable to resolve the issue.

co-ordinate and supervise activities with regards to any disruption on site including emergency response, traffic control, guarding and patrolling, escorting services and incident reports.

conduct annual appraisals for staff and provide feedback regarding training and development needs.

implement the major incident plan.

deputise for the head of security in their absence.

ensure continuity of handover between shifts.

work closely with other staff and departments.

monitor attendance of staff.

control equipment stocks within the laid down department procedures.

identify areas for improvement within the service.

ensure equipment is functioning and being used in a safe manner.

ensure staff are following procedures and legislation's. experience and skills required for this position:

you may be required to travel to other sites from time to time.

full, clean, uk driving licence.

level 2 in mathematics and english.

demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement.

experience within a security setting.

sia licence

cctv licence
