Strategic sourcing manager - steel - united states, chattanooga
adecco has partnered with a globally known manufacturer to hire a strategic sourcing manager to lead sourcing activities for the organization's steel group.
the strategic sourcing manager for the steel category will have a combination of tactical and strategic sourcing responsibilities and will handle the end to end sourcing operations related to raw materials for multiple sites.
responsibilities include but are not limited to:
developing the sourcing/procurement strategy for steel category and negotiating strategic supplier relationships.
supporting cost reduction goals established by top management and develop and drive actions to meet the short term and long-term cost reduction goals
managing a multi-million dollar spend of assigned categories minimizing risk and total cost of ownership (tco).
generating and implementing effective sourcing strategies for the steel group, including negotiation strategies, annual plans and product procurement processes.
sourcing suppliers and maintaining long-lasting relationships to ensure a strong supply portfolio.
obtaining quotes, negotiating price, quantity, and delivery schedules and
managing contract terms and agreements.
conducting supplier site visits/audits to leverage capabilities and confirm that supplier meets quality and performance objectives.
secure profitable deals and drive total cost reduction through collaborative process improvements with suppliers.
qualifications:
bachelor’s degree in related field.
ascm or apics certification as cscp, cpim, cltd, ism certification, desired
5+ years’ progressive experience in procurement, operations, and/or supply chain related roles
high level of expertise in steel and aluminum
ability to read prints, technical drawings, boms, p.o's, cut lists and all similar material which specifies what needs to be purchased for the product.
ability to travel 35-40% of the time.
