summary
• i am looking for a kind and patient pa to provide care and support to my 10 year old son who has cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs and uses a wheelchair.
• my son has a visual impairment and is non-verbal but is developing his communication skills through alternative means.
• he loves music, books, bubbles, lights, sensory play and his ipad! he is also very curious about the world and people in it. he loves to go out and see and experience places and activities outside the house.
• duties will include personal care tasks and keeping my son safe either in the home or out and about in the local area engaging him in activities he enjoys.
• this is a rewarding role with training provided.

• must be comfortable with pets (cat)
• non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.

all applicants must be willing to undertake an enhanced disclosure & barring service check if required.

typical duties
domestic -
• preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
personal care:
• changing continence pad and associated dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
• helping with other aspects of personal care as required.
• getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
• mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
social:
• accompany employer’s son when accessing social and leisure activities
• accompanying on trips out eg to the garden centre, café, local visits, out shopping for fun, attending social events, attending therapies and disability group
• the above duties could involve driving the employer’s car, (insurance permitting) lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car and pushing the wheelchair when out.
• whilst on duty at the child’s home watching tv and assisting with craft and other activities

clean uk driving licence desirable (employer has motability wav for child’s transportation)
previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
