Multilingual development editor - united kingdom, marlborough, wiltshire
we are recruiting for a bilingual editor to join a publishing company working with archive material for education and academia. as a development editor, you will be researching, commissioning and developing teaching resources and building relationships with the academic and higher education community in spain, germany, france, italy and across the world.
working with academics, librarians and archivists in the humanities and social sciences, you will license primary sources for new project ideas that you are driving forward.

the role
as the lead editor for new digital projects, you will:
identify new primary sources for projects in archives around the world
work with long product pipelines to bring material to market over months and years
come up with ideas and commission new content and develop projects to the point of handover to editorial production teams
conduct market research and keep abreast of digital resources
prepare proposals and costings
maintain and develop academic networks by attending conferences
the candidate
you will have the following skills and experience:
spoken and written spanish, french, german or italian to a professional level
at least 2 years experience in an editorial commissioning role, ideally working on academic content
proven line management experience is helpful
a passion for the humanities and a university degree in the humanities or social sciences
excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability and confidence to build strong relationships and negotiate contracts
research skills and market awareness
resilience, decisiveness and ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects

this company is in marlborough, easily commutable by car from swindon, newbury, devizes, chippenham.
basics
after training in systems, you will be able to work from home 2 days per week in a hybrid working environment. you will be working 37.5 hours per week monday to friday with travel throughout the emea region.
