Quantity surveyor - united kingdom, tiverton, devon

our client- a residential house builder, are looking for a quantity surveyor to join the commercial team at their head office in tiverton. they have traditional build sites all over cornwall and devon, and are looking for an experienced surveyor to look after their own site and report to the managing surveyor.

this role of quantity surveyor is responsible for managing the commercial aspects of each development. this includes managing the costs for each site and ensuring that targets are met by managing and controlling the budgets and valuations.

your responsibilities will include:

maximising profitability / budgetary control of all sites.review, monitor and obtain best commercial value at all times.tendering subcontract packages, placing subcontract orders, processing payments, agreeing final accounts and always maintain the best and appropriate contractual position for the company.submission of bank and affordable contract valuations to secure relevant incoming cash-flow.production of monthly commercial reports and presenting to the site team and senior management.work collaboratively with the site team, other departments and external consultants to achieve the required commercial and quality targets.manage the process to ensure all deadlines are metprepare reports and updates for the managing surveyor as and when required.attend regularly organised design, technical or commercial meetings, update and action points raised.organise, chair and minute regular site project meetings.keep the managing surveyor regularly updated of your progress in all aspects of your role

the ideal candidate will be someone who is self motivated; has the ability to prioritise workloads ensuring deadlines are met; but equally has the ability to work as part of the commercial team, strives for continuous improvement for the benefit of the company and has a professional aptitude and appearance at all times.

essential skills:

- construction/building related hnc or higher qualification (or equivalent)

- new build experience

- excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form.

- produce accurate commercial reports.

- ability to use a range of it packages including microsoft office.

- good time management

- ability to make decisions within authority.

- able to read, understand and measure from working drawings.
