wood machinist with bench joinery skills
we are looking for skilled applicants to join us as part of a team manufacturing high class joinery for well known london based companies. our team consists of 10 staff in a well-equipped modern factory based in wickford.
we have several jobs being processed at any one time, so you could be working on your own or with other staff as a team.
our work is rarely repetitive, so the applicant must be able to think on the go and have their own ideas about how is best to process timber, but also to adapt to the way we work.
this applicant for a wood machinist should be able to select and cut timber, or boards, and be able to cut, rip, plane, and mould and set up the machines appropriately, including a spindle, with knowledge of h&s on all machines. also, to be able to read drawings and produce cutting lists.
when machining is not required, a knowledge and skill of assembly on the bench will be useful. we also have a cnc, so programming and operation is also an advantage, but not essential as this can be taught.
there is opportunity to progress within the company to manage the machine area, order timber, discuss jobs and methods of processing, passing on information to the next staff member, monitoring progress of a job, etc.
