general summary

the procurement specialist is responsible for the ordering of materials, supplies, and equipment to support the business operations for us cell therapy sites in princeton, nj. in addition, this role will evaluate, select, and establish relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts for goods and services and track their progress to make sure orders are filled and delivered timely.

responsibilities

  • manage procuring of materials, services, and equipment.
  • maintain a high degree of communication with key suppliers to build long term supplier/customer relationship.
  • assure timely performance of the requisition to po to receipt process.
  • ensure orders are correctly processed in accordance with local and enterprise procedures & sops.
  • contribute to development and improvement of processes
  • forecast future spend and potential cost breaks or additions.
  • support in the engagement and utilization of procurement tools including rfx’s, contracting and scorecards/reports/communications, etc.
  • identify and deliver efficiency savings and improved contractual arrangements.
  • develop/maintain key performance indictors to measure site performance
  •  understand the capabilities of the supply base and select suppliers based on best-in-class criteria to ensure the reliable delivery of consistently high-quality products.
  • conduct business in an ethical and professional manner to ensure avoidance of all actual and potential conflicts of interest
  • qualifications

  • minimum of an associate’s degree in business, supply chain or materials procurement.
  • 2 plus years of experience in procurement a plus.
  • ability to analyze, and interpret common financial reports, and legal documents is helpful.
  • ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients and in-house customers.
  • ability to effectively present information to management is required.
  • ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • proficient in microsoft office products with emphasis on excel and pc or mac computers
  • lean/6 sigma experience a plus
  • apics certification or industry equivalent a plus
  • experience with mrp/erp enterprise systems helpful
