Engineering manager - united kingdom, cullompton, devon

we re hiring an engineering manager to lead the engineering and maintenance team at our cullompton and uffculme sites.

your role will oversee the management and maintenance of all plant and equipment on site, ensuring performance and reliability. the key features of this role are to ensure feed safety, maximise process efficiency, and a safe working environment on a best cost framework. you will also have the opportunity to work closely with the central engineering function on various ventures such as capital investment projects.

what you will be responsible for:

demonstrating consistent technical and behavioural leadership at all times.

ensure compliance with all relevant legislation & statutory inspections, ensuring health and safety is always suitably prioritised and that teams operate safely.

ensure that the achievement of food safety is always a priority.

manage the pm regime for all plant and equipment.

consistently drive energy and efficiency improvements and activities.

create the budget plan for the financial year and maintain control of spend (by month).

engage with operational teams and support lean implementation activities.

as engineering manager, you will be responsible for overall maintenance of the site. as part of this you will be required to have or be a:

multi-skilled engineer; hnc (or equivalent), mechanical / electrical engineering. preferably with an electrical bias.

suitable & relevant engineering experience, preferably in a leadership role. experience of planned maintenance systems, preferably within the food industry.

good h&s knowledge in legislation and application (iosh qualification desirable).

a logical and structured thinker, with a strong ability to solve problems.

exposure to high volume manufacturing; ci or lean methodologies.

strong communication skills; ability to engage and motivate teams and individuals.

resilient personal development focus to continuously improve.

a degree of hands-on working especially during holidays and unplanned absence cover.

24 hours call-outs (via a rota system) are part of the requirement.
