job summary:

as an electrical technician, you will install, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures and conduit and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing assigned duties.  the electrical technician will also assist and participate in other duties such as providing support to the mechanical technicians. 2nd shift position 2pm to 10pm.

essential responsibilities:

  • practices safe work habits as an individual and with co-workers.
  • works effectively in a team environment.
  • adheres to guidelines related to ppe (personal protective equipment).
  • knows safety equipment and is aware of machine safety procedures.
  • knows and understands mechanical processes and equipment function principles.
  • conducts equipment inspections for proper operation and mechanical integrity.
  • in-depth knowledge of electrical safety guidelines and electrical safety related work practices such as lockout/tagout and ark flash safety regulations.
  • demonstrates a working knowledge of safe and proper use of basic electrical diagnostic equipment (volt/ohm meter, etc.)
  • demonstrates proficiency in basic multimeter functions (i.e. fuses, conductivity)
  • able to troubleshoot polarity, electrical power distribution systems, and correct problems in ac motor drives.
  • troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits—relays, contactors, motors, starters and dc drives.
  • demonstrates proficiency in reading, drawing and understanding electrical blueprints, schematics, electrical diagrams and symbols.
  • possesses a working knowledge of 24v, 110v, 220v, 277v, and 480v three phase systems.
  • has the ability to make basic to intermediate modifications within plc’s and digital motor controllers.
  • must provide documentation showing completion of formal training in the electrical field.
  • must provide proof of successful completion of formal training by an acknowledged ac or dc drives school (i.e. reliance, eei, siemens).

    education:

    broad technical training (high school plus 1 to 2 years of apprenticeship/applied trades training).  training requires a basic knowledge in the use of shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, plc programs, dc drive motors, ac drive motors and various types of precision measuring instruments is required.

     

    experience: 

    minimum of 2 years electrical technician experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

     

    an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable.

     

    job type: full-time

    salary start rate: $25.50 to $30.50 depending on experience plus bi-weekly “team-share production incentive”.
