job description

we are looking for a high-calibre, dependable and enthusiastic changeover person to clean and turnaround a top quality, eco-friendly and sustainable, self catering property in inverness city centre to a high standard. cleaning experience is required but ’house style’ training and support will be given to the right candidate.

days of work vary and weekend work can be required, with notice of working days in the may to october peak very often being months in advance. we have to be flexible to tie in with guest arrivals and departures but the core hours are usually 3 hours between 11 am to 3pm approx, with may - october being the busiest months.

duties & responsibilities include

- taking pride in cleaning a 3 bed, 2 bathroom, property to a very high standard (dusting, vacuuming, polishing, mopping, etc)

- changing used bedding, towels, bathroom linen etc for fresh sets*

- documenting & notifying management of any damage, pilferage, and required repairs / maintenance.

- refilling guest supplies, such as toiletries, coffee/tea, etc, after each stay.

- notifying management of low stock levels (e.g. cleaning products, guest supplies, toiletries etc)

- performing routine, light-duty, inspections and maintenance activities (e.g. testing fire alarms)

- removing rubbish and recycling.

- finishing & presenting the apartment to a high standard for guest’s arrival (e.g. plumping cushions, turning lights on etc)

- regularly welcoming and orientating guests warmly and professionally.

- managing regular routine tasks not required at each changeover - e.g. cleaning outside hallway, watering plants, rotating mattresses, checking lightbulbs etc

- keeping equipment operating safely by following operating instructions; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance (e.g. cleaning filters on vacuums) etc.

- maintaining safe, secure, and clean work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with all relevant health and safety regulations.

- enhancing the reputation of the business through the high quality of their work.

- other duties as and when required

*we are open to the successful candidate taking responsibility for laundering the sheets, towels etc to a high standard for an additional fee.

required skills

- to clean to a very high standard - quickly and efficiently.

- be thorough, meticulous and have a strong eye for detail.

- be enthusiastic and reasonably fit.

- be responsible, reliable, honest and trustworthy.

- be flexible in working days and hours. though most bookings are arranged well in advance, bookings do sometimes come in closer to the time.

- be welcoming, personable and have a warm, friendly manner.

- be fluent in english.

preferred skills

- possess a knowledge of inverness and the surrounding areas.

- an awareness and interest in tourism and sustainability issues.

- any knowledge of foreign languages is advantageous

hours & renumeration

- 3 hours on average, 2 to 3 times a week in summer, less in winter, and usually between 11am - 3pm approx.

- we would except time off to be scheduled around the needs of the business. this means that taking long holidays between may-october are unlikely to be possible.

- £14ph inclusive of a performance related bonus. paid in arrears.
