important: you must have previous experience working in residential childcare and with challenging behaviour to be considered for this role.

phoenix crisis intervention service supports young people whose current placements may be at risk and their local authority does not have a relocation plan for them. we are therefore seeking resilient support workers who have past experience with challenging behaviour.

working with a specialised 90 day programme, as a support worker you will help our young people stabilise their behaviours by implementing firm boundaries in a safe and nurturing environment and working with the rest of staff team to provide a consistent, positive and trusting relationship. in addition to the above you will also support our young people with the more routine aspects of life including household tasks, chores, attending appointments and maintaining contact with family and friends.

key accountabilities:

to provide high quality, person-centred care recognising the potential of each young person and to promote through actions and words the achievement of that potential including working as part of a team.

to meet the individual care and support needs of young people using the service in a way that promotes, dignity, privacy, safety and independence.

to ensure the effective use of resources in providing this care and support.

what we are looking for:

someone who has a positive outlook, enjoys engaging with young people and wants to make a difference in their lives.

you will consider yourself to be a resilient and reliable individual who is able to remain calm in situations that may be difficult and challenging.

you will, ideally, have already achieved a ocf/nvq level 3 or diploma in residential childcare or equivalent or be excited and driven of the prospect of gaining a recognised qualification with full financial and practical support from us.

you will hold a current driving license.

need to be physically able to maintain safety of young people through physical intervention in extreme circumstances (training and support will be provided).

our young people are cared for on a 24 hour basis and you will be required to work sleep-ins in order to support this.
