as operations manager, you will manage all on-site activity through the effective day-to-day planning of staff and processes across shifts to ensure the consistent achievement of the volume, quality, and efficiency targets.

you will contribute to medium and long-term planning and work primarily at an operational level to manage processes and through puts, to ensure that parcelhub and whistl continues to deliver the highest quality, most cost-effective offering for its customers.

this operations manager role is monday to friday, 11:30 - 20:00.

process management

ensure shifts are planned correctly and that the site has the correct 'key' people in place to ensure the depot meets their sla on processing, consumables, loading, and despatchidentify process issues and deliver solutions either independently or in discussion with the commercial team. ensure all issues and any resulting decisions/actions are logged and communicatedprovide guidance and support for the front-line staff on process, stakeholder, and people management activitiesproactively manage a fleet of 12-15 3.5t vehicles ensuring all are legal and fit for service on a daily basisday-to-day planning and management of the labour resource across shifts in liaison with team leaders, agency contract manager, and sub-contractorsleadership and management of staff

communicate effectively with the team through daily and weekly meetings on business and personal performance within the depot and across the networkdelegate tasks appropriately across the teams to ensure high quality delivery manage the attendance, conduct, and performance of staff including agreeing objectives, reviewing, recognising, and rewarding performance, addressing issues of unsatisfactory performance, attendance, or conductsupport the professional development of staffcost management

monitor depot costs against budget forecast and review regularly with view to exceeding budgetary targets and reducing costsdemonstrate a clear understanding of the costs by product areacustomer focus

build effective relationships with service providers and clientscommunicate with internal and external stakeholders in order to effectively manage and address any operational issues that might impact on delivery for a clienthealth and safety

comply with all health, safety, and environment policies and other relevant regulationsensure all h&s and environment plans are maintained, updated, and communicated to the staffensure that all line team members are operating efficiently and safely to ensure quality standards are metmail integrity and security

ensure that all staff comply the mail integrity requirements including dbs checks and id cardsimplement the security policy in the depot in close liaison with the head of security supporting the area operations manager with shift searches as per company policychange management

contributing proactively to the implementation of change projects, including promoting a culture of open, honest communication to support positive change and, supporting the management and evaluation of change in the depotyou will work collaboratively with other departments.
