we now seeking two premises assistants who will play a crucial part in the operational life of the school and who will uphold the standards that the swan school has set.
premises assistant key responsibilities:
lock/unlock school buildings and areas for staff or lettings, undertake regular security checks and identify security risks
monitor fire safety and security equipment, operate & respond to alarm systems
ensure external areas are kept clean, free of litter and weeds, and gritted/salted when appropriate in winter
undertake minor repairs and minor decoration
operation of heating plant, cooling and lighting systems
undertake regular site inspections and identify and record repair and maintenance requirements
collect and assemble waste for collection
undertake cleaning duties including graffiti removal, litter picking
provide emergency access to the school site
arrange furniture in preparation for school events
refill and replace consumables e.g. soap & towels
act as school contact in relation to premises related contractors
you will need to be aware of all health and safety issues in and around the school.

to be aware of health and safety issues around the school grounds and promote & ensure the health and safety of pupils, staff and visitors at all times
be responsible for maintaining records, information and data on health & safety checks
perform duties in line with health and safety regulations (coshh) and take action where hazards are identified, report serious hazards to line manager immediately
additional duties and responsibilities
be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
attend relevant meetings as required
participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required
treat all users of the school with courtesy and consideration
present a positive personal image; contribute to a welcoming school environment which supports equal opportunities for all.
