Transport coordinator - united kingdom, lutterworth, leicestershire
our client, based in lutterworth, is looking for a transport coordinator to join their night operation. you will be responsible for providing exceptional service levels to valued customers through effective communication with site-based operation teams, drivers and suppliers.
responsible for:
resolution of customer queries promptly
liaising with the customer s representatives regularly
obtaining driver etas through a telematics system and advising customer contacts
building customer/supplier relationships
carrying out trailer/vehicle checks
briefing and de-briefing drivers
planning vehicle servicing and maintenance
changes to store runs/times
processing pods and the accurate updating of traffic management systems
issuing instructions to the drivers as they arise
ensuring administration is undertaken on time
scheduling and supervising a team of drivers
collaborate with other staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
conduct investigations following any incidents to determine root causes and improve safety procedures.
ensure all site contractors have a permit to work and records of their risk assessments, method statements and liability insurance are held
ensure all company safe systems, policies, risk assessments and standard operating procedures are adhered to
ensure we work in line with the business quality procedures
the role would also require the candidate to effectively and continuously coordinate ongoing transport activities. these tasks would include:
ensure drivers comply with driver s hours and tachograph rules and within speed limits.
ensuring vehicles are adequately maintained, including inspecting vehicles at the appropriate time and taking action to remedy defects.
reporting and recording all vehicle defects
ensure accurate inspection records are kept for no less than 15 months
ensure drivers undertake walkaround checks
continuous improvement on driver infringements and performance
co-ordinating driver training, inductions, annual refresher training and maintaining driver training matrix
ensure poor performance and notifiable incidents are documented, investigated, and actions taken to prevent re-occurrence
ensure all vehicles have the correct o licence disc displayed on the windscreen
ensure all vehicles have sufficient tacho paper
monitor digital tachograph cards and their use, expiry or replacement dates
regular briefings with drivers to ensure they are aware of expectations, changes or customer issues - record on toolbox talk templates and have the document signed by all attendees.
ensure vehicle units and digital tachograph cards are downloaded within the appropriate timescales, and company cards are obtained, managed and used accordingly

experience in general haulage work is an advantage

strength of character and assertiveness - stamina and drive
business skills - numeracy and it literacy
knowledge of road transport regulations desirable but not essential
the hours for this role are- 12-hour shifts, on four nights on, four nights off - 6 pm to 6 am.
