salary: £22k - £25k plus bonus and benefits

fixed term contract: 18 months

the company is an innovative and successful privately owned sme that designs and manufactures hi-tech capital equipment for worldwide export with a head office in the uk and two overseas offices. a vacancy has arisen for an it technician to support the development of it within the company encompassing end-users, hardware, network, software and cyber security; and supporting or owning exciting it initiative projects.

principal accountabilities:

to carry out all tasks and projects within the scope of the role including:

support 70 staff with any it related queries / issues in a professional and timely manner.
liaise with 3rd party support companies to assist in solutions when required.
maintain the internal helpdesk (fresh desk) with meaningful threads and solutions.
report weekly helpdesk kpis to enable informed decision-making.
contribute to supporting / creating user documentation.

maintain it audits:

carry out monthly it maintenance and audits. include but not limited to pc, software licences, user access and dr audits.

maintain and improve cyber security & dr:

monitor and maintain patch management. monitor and maintain anti-virus standards. assist in obtaining and maintaining cyber security certifications.

assist / own it projects:

assist and contribute towards key it projects. own and drive forward it initiatives.

to undertake any other tasks that are within the capability of the job holder.

experience / personal qualities:

the role holder, under the guidance of the it manager, will have prime responsibility for providing first line support to staff across the company, working collaboratively with teams and 3rd party suppliers, requiring effective time management and control of multiple tasks. the ideal candidate will be qualified to a minimum of hnd or preferably degree level in it / computer science.

competent user of microsoft 365 (office, teams, sharepoint). windows 10. it helpdesk experience. basic understanding of firewalls, networks, switches and patch-panels. strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to engage with internal and external contacts. accuracy and a high level of attention to detail with proven ability to plan own time to meet deadlines. a positive attitude and the ability to work effectively both within a team and independently
