2nd shift fabrication operator lead - united states, san diego
to lead and facilitate the daily operations of the assigned value stream(s) to provide adequate resources, on-going work direction, and problem solving to ensure business goals are met under the guidelines of the company policies and procedures.
key role responsibilities
performs all work in accordance with standard work outline without assistance.
performs all work in a safe manner, to include proper use of personal protective equipment.
follows specification of inspections as noted. dimensionally checks and tests production to insure product output meets requirements per aql standards.
utilizes properly calibrated precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gages, thread gages, pin gages, and other measuring tools.
participation in lean activities/trainings and active use of lean tools in daily operations to include sqdcc (safety, quality, delivery and cost), hr. x hr. charts and lean engagement programs, kaizen events, 5s and other programs as directed.
perform machine set-ups and make minor machine/program adjustments without assistance.
trains other employees in basic and complex machine operator techniques.
read, interpret and adhere to drawing requirements, produce change requests and ncmr’s (non-conforming material request) when needed and other paper chain related forms.
collaborate and develop machine fixtures based on continuous daily improvement needs.
initiate and drive process development in department/area.
informs the supervisor of any operating / material / parts condition that would interfere with quality / quantity production, and takes / coordinates approved actions to resolve the problem(s).
performs operational checks on all departmental tools & highly visible to associates and promote hands-on, high involvement approaches to problem solving.
conduct the day-to-day production activities within the production cell to ensure that current commitments are achieved while improvements are being made.
update production status board, and execute and track daily performance through the use of process center communication boards on a daily basis ensuring root cause analysis and counter measures are identified.
ensure proper staffing at start of shift, organize cell work load and kits availability on line side and queue.
conduct safety investigations as needed and updating standard work.
perform layered process audits and ensure maintenance checklist items are conducted as required.
receives daily direction and support from the supervisor.
provide input to employees on performance standards and identify assigned team’s adherence to company policies and procedure.
perform cross training.
train new hires on standard work and procedures and update skills matrix.
performs other related duties as needed.
qualifications and experience
ability to read & write in english (high school or equivalent) needed to comply with written instructions and complete departmental paperwork.
basic computer skills (email and excel)
at least 3 years of relevant experience operating haas vertical milling machines
at least 1 years of relevant experience in setting up new product runs on haas vertical milling machines
experience in precision measuring instruments such as calipers, depth gages, thread gages, pin gages, and other measuring tools.
experience leading and training at either a peer or lead level.
