hours/shifts: mornings (10am – 1pm), tea times (4 - 5.30pm) and weekends (3.5 – 5 hours per day) with some flexibility to cover other staff and times when needed. days and times can be discussed at interview.
summary
to assist me in living as independently as possible in a clean, warm home. also, helping me with indoor and outdoor activities, along with my community activities.
i have numerous disabilities – hearing, sight, mobility and balance as well as slight learning disability. i have a working hearing dog and an indoor cat, so applicant must like animals.
pa’s may be asked to cover other shifts or do longer shifts due to sickness, holidays, appointments so need to be flexible but i appreciate it may not always be possible unless sufficient notice is given.

• must be comfortable with pets and be willing to clear up after them
• must have a uk driving licence- preferred but not essential
• must have access to own vehicle- preferred but not essential

• domestic light housework
• preparing meals
• assist by explaining some of the correspondence, including form filing, acting on it or filing it
• assist by making phone calls on my behalf
• assisting with medication for animals (tablets, cream) and clearing up after them
• being present when any work person’s carry out work in the flat
• help with flat repairs or organise flat repairs
personal care
• soaking feet and applying cream to them
• cutting finger nails
• assisting me to get up if i’ve fallen over
• cutting food up
social:
• shopping with me and without me
• accompany me when accessing social and leisure activities when required such as horse riding, bowling, exercise classes, to meet my friends or other hearing dog get togethers
• coffee shops or garden centres
• medical appointments – gp, dentist, optician, chiropodist or hospital
• vet appointments
• accompanying me on walks with my hearing working dog, and clearing up after him

the successful applicant will be:
• have a current dbs or be prepared to have one
• be able to work in employer’s home that has animals – cat and dog
• be honest and trustworthy
• be reliable, understanding and patient
• have good time keeping
• be fit and healthy
• be respectful, respect privacy and confidentiality (gdpr)
• have good communication skills with written and speaking english at a reasonable standard
• be cheerful and positive
• be able to work as part of a team (essential)
• being able to sign using bsl is an advantage
• ideally be able to drive but not essential
• legally permitted to work in the uk
• able to work at all times to high standard of health & safety or rules and regulations
previous experience is preferred but not essential as a kind and common sense of approach to this role.
