role: health, safety & quality advisor

salary: up to £33k per annum, depending on experience

reporting to: production manager

location: aldenham business park, muckley cross

contract: permanent role, full-time

hours: 38 hours per week, monday to thursday 08:00 – 17:00 and friday 08:00 – 15:00.

they have been going strong for 40+ years and their order book includes exciting and unique products.

the hsq advisor will improve site safety performance by identifying poor practices and better methods of work and implementing improvements. they will also advise and encourage higher standards at all times.

some key features of the role:

ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported and fully investigated in line with legislative and company requirements.
providing expert advice, guidance and training on all aspects of health and safety at the site to all levels within the business
adopting a lead role in ensuring new projects are managed safely and in compliance with regulations
carrying out daily site inspections to ensure that poor safety practice can be identified and corrective action put in place

creating and embedding a culture of hsq excellence that enables our people to deliver targets whilst continuously improving the performance of our business
ensuring legal compliance obligations are met through influencing at all levels of the manufacturing function and leadership team
preparing risk assessments, method statements, ssow, coshh
develop, implement and maintain strategies to improve standards in line with industry best practices and actively promote a safety culture

audit the business h&s system
update and audit the quality management system as required and provide suitable and practical recommendations for improvement in-line with the requirements of the 2015 revision of iso 9001.
ensure the following elements of a quality system are in place; in-process quality control; final inspections/testing prior to shipping; ensuring documentation is in place; goods- inward processes and controls.
encourage others to seek out improvement opportunities in the workplace and own projects.
grows capability of themselves and colleagues on the site, by identifying continuous improvement.
coach colleagues on audits & risk assessments.
develop, source and implement training as required.

challenge and coach all colleagues on unsafe acts, systems and procedures.
develop and implement hse plans to support the strategy and improve standards in health, safety, environment
actively review and continually improve local hse policies, standards, procedures and practices.
support the creation and development of hse projects.
ensure key health and safety and quality objectives are delivered on time.
monitor, analyse and report on accident statistics, kpi’s and develop and drive improvements in hse performance data
create site hse roadmap as part of the site management team.

the ideal candidate:

qualified to nebosh diploma and a member of iosh

minimum of 2 years’ experience in a safety, health, quality role would be beneficial
good understanding of legislative requirements and how to apply that knowledge in a manufacturing environment
high level attention to detail
high level problem solving capability and facilitation skills.
