7:30am-3:30pm

 

summary:

the finishing operator leads the daily activities in the finishing work cell. on any given day the work performed, or the processes managed in the cell may include cutting cores, preparing boxes, retrieving raw materials from plant, shear knife set ups, material testing, equipment change-overs, preventive maintenance, and implementation of engineered improvements. job set up, finishing process conditions, and testing are performed per established practices, procedures, specifications and quality requirements. the finishing

operator may direct the activities of the finishing utility helper and any assigned trainees.

 

responsibilities:

· maximize the amount of quality product produced in the work cell.

· load and unload webstocks and bulk rolls using a forklift or other material handling equipment.

· (must be able to obtain an osha certified forklift operator’s license)

· perform unit set-ups per established practices, procedures, and specifications. perform appropriate

   and established quality checks.

· perform set up and pull material per established practices, procedures, and specifications. when a

   production problem arises, perform trouble shooting / corrective actions that minimize the loss of

   materials and unit down-time. any product that does not meet established quality standards must be

   removed from the roll or flagged appropriately.

· clean-up and prepare the unit for the next production run per established practices and procedures.

· complete production labeling and paperwork accurately; recording set-up and production times,

    prime production, scrap, consumed and returned to inventory.

· lead assigned maintenance and engineering activities.

· bring order and organization to the work cell.

 

 

skills and requirements

  • tow motor driving experience
  • previous machine operator experience required
  • must be able to read a tape measure
  • mathematical aptitude
  • ability to read/understand specifications.
  • ability to read measuring devices such as ruler, caliper, dial indicator, micrometer and scale
  • manual dexterity and ability to use all hand tools in order to set up and operate extruder.
  • ability to lift and carry objects up to 50-100 pounds. (over 50 lbs. with an assist).
  • frequent standing, walking, and lifting.
  • follow written safety procedures
  • knowledge of metal and machinery preferred.
  • regular and punctual attendance
  •  

    education requirements

  • high school diploma/ged minimum
  • forklift certification a plus
  • basic computer skills a plus
