Engineering manager (capital projects) - united kingdom, huntingdon, cambridgeshire

a brand new and exciting opportunity to support the operational delivery of the capex strategy throughout the uk. the successful candidate will be responsible for the production and implementation of an engineering strategy based on delivering manufacturing and operational excellence, whilst leading the project engineering team in providing improvements with regards to safety, capacity, efficiency and cost reduction.

main responsibilities will include:

delivery of all projects within cost and schedule targets, including equipment, site infrastructure and critical utilities

effectively lead a team of project engineer and project manager, ensuring successful outcome of project scopes, in accordance with best practice, h&s legislation, and the environmental management systems

work with the group and local manufacturing directors in devising and delivering a strategy relating to capital projects.

ensure team skills are maintained and developed to maintain and improve capacity and capability

manage contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements.

management of uk capex budget

working as part of the management team to share ideas and actively promote improvement activities to enhance plant reliability.

manage the process of the introduction of new machinery, plant and equipment from drawing up the specification, managing suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties.

continuous improvement using data analysis (mttr & mttf).

provide coordination to balance site priorities, resources and potential clashes

requirements

chartered engineer (or working towards chartered status)

qualification or professional experience (e.g project management in automation, mechanical setting etc)

engineering degree

experience of leading a multi-disciplined team across multiple sites

strong knowledge and understanding of technical design and operation of manufacturing facilities, ideally in plastic processing (extrusion/ injection moulding)

strong budget planning, contract management and control skills

excellent presentation skills with the confidence to deliver presentations up to and including group level.

strong influencer

full uk driving licence as extensive uk travel will be required
