summary

my husband is 73 years old and has had a brain haemorrhage. due to this he has difficulties communicating (dysphasia) but can understand everything. he is a wheelchair user and requires some help with transferring and needs a lot of prompting to do things as he will forget.

he loves football and will sit and look at various football topics on the computer. we try and get out as much as we can just for a walk to get some fresh air.

as a pa you would need to be patient and take your time to get to know him and what he needs. due to his dysphasia he may not be able to verbalise everything but is still able to make decisions. giving him options on what to do rather than telling him is very important as it helps him retain his independence.

my husband sometimes forgets that he is not as mobile as he used to be and will try to walk himself, or get something from a kitchen cupboard. i would like to be able to go out with the grandchildren or with friends knowing that he is safe at home so your support would be very much appreciated.
