summary:

i'm 19 and i love animals, hanging out at home, being creative, helping people, learning and much more. i also need a bit of help and support to do these things.

i am looking for a person who, must be 25 or over, would be interested in hanging out with me and getting paid for the pleasure! it would be on a live-in basis. i can pay £31,753, per year. for this you will be expected to provide daily care, look after the household and oversee any additional staff that may be needed to provide full time care.

you will have some experience of live-in care, managing staff and be organised. opportunities to learn and develop in the role will be provided.

• must be comfortable with dogs, horses and other animals.

• all applicants must be willing to undertake an enhanced disclosure & barring service check.

successful applicants will be entitled to holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

role description

to work with employer to ensure care is person centred, safe and effective through

• providing professional leadership and oversight of team of pa’s

• being a role model for pas to follow, demonstrating exemplary practice of care of the employer

• working with other professionals to ensure care, medical, educational and social needs are supported in a person centred way, recognising individuality

• work with employer to ensure all care documentation is accurate, relevant and reflects directives from professionals involved in care

• completion and maintenance of clear and accurate care records, care plans and risk assessments and communication systems, ensuring these are used effectively

additional responsibilities

• support with employment responsibilities, seeking advice from independent lives as required

• plan and manage staff rotas to ensure there is sufficient cover to meet needs

• plan, implement and monitor pa inductions, providing additional training and support as required

• arrange all mandatory training, booking online and ordering workbooks and allocating time for completion

• to attend regular 1-2-1 meetings with the case manager and to liaise with them to book training as required

• maintain training records, ensuring training is up-to-date and relevant to meet care needs

• undertake and maintain records of 4-6 weekly supervisions with all pa’s, discussing any issues with employer

• work alongside other pa’s to meet personal and social care needs.

• monitor and manage care files and work with employer and other professionals and pa’s to ensure that these are updated and reflective of individual needs.

• liaise with other professions when necessary to ensure that all health and social care needs are met.

domestic

undertaking housekeeping tasks such as bed making, changing bed linen, cooking, tidying and cleaning the employer’s bedroom, kitchen and bathroom.

personal care

washing, bathing and dressing, meeting personal hygiene needs, assisting at mealtimes, lifting and handling using a range of equipment including hoists, slings and sliding gloves. the pa will be required to maintain dignity at all times and be aware of the need for careful handling.

support with health: support sensory needs and maintain fluid intake.

support with communication: break down tasks into small steps and use a range of communication methods (e.g. words, pictures, signs, aac).

assist with mobility: getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring'), as needed; pushing the client ’s manual wheelchair, as needed.

you will be provided with full mandatory training to enable you to provide care to meet everyday needs, such as peg-j feeding.

you will be required to follow procedures designed for the health and safety of both yourself, other pas and the person you are caring for, using equipment such as hoists and slings, which you will be given training.

the post holder will also be required to give a range of medications, completing record charts as required.

accompany to all social activities, helping to engage in and experience a wide range of activities, which will enhance quality of life.

accompany to training, work commitments and other events.

other tasks

you will be required to accompany to medical appointments.

attending additional training as required.

the employer’s home is a no-smoking environment and the post holder will be required not smoke on the premises or when caring for the individual or in the individual’s car.

the post holder will be expected to maintain confidentiality both of the employer and of the other family members living within the home. any information gained in this role must not be communicated to other persons, except where required in the recognised course of duty.

previous experience of providing live in care

whilst previous experience is desirable, the qualities of enthusiasm, commitment, a sense of fun and a person centred approach are more important in the right candidate.

through both on-the-job and formal training there will be the opportunity to gain the knowledge and experience required.

a kind and common sense approach is key.
