position summary
as a multi site depot manager you will lead and oversee the efficient operation of our swanley depot as your base and provide support to our welham green depot.
reporting into the supply chain director, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the busy operation, and instrumental for driving service, quality and compliance across the depots.
our depot in swanley is our largest regional warehouse, shipping 50-60 tons of product per day, across the south-east and london. welham green is also a large facility, and together they employ 100 staff.
key to success in this role will be inspiring leadership. we want you to put considerable focus on up-skilling the existing staff, many of whom are valued veterans, and implement training and development programs so that our employees with enjoy continuous development.
there are also improvements to be implemented to upgrade the swanley site.
this role offers the opportunity to make a big impact on our most critical depots.
key responsibilities
day to day operations management and people management across busy warehouse and transport environments
accountable for full 24 hour operation of the site with support from direct reports
control costs and improve upon kpis
responsible for site h&s and the overview of the systems within
ensure the site works within the brc and iso 9001 frameworks
ensuring and managing safe working practices on site including hsqe inspections
an ability to manage high expectations to deliver the business agenda.
implement a positive communication culture across the depots and stakeholders by building bridges and maintaining effective communication
measurement and reporting of current state and deliverables against business needs
develop and align escalation process at site, with services teams and counterparts at site
develop service structures and processes to meet service requirements
develop an operations-related relationship between client s operations team and the operations support team
support the development of tools to increase visibility and transparency of the implemented system
identify any gaps in ongoing operations and develop and coordinate plans to close the gaps
implement a continuous improvement culture
required experience / qualifications / licences
12 years experience within warehousing and distribution, with 5+ years in management.
high level business acumen
exceptional communication skills, with a particular emphasis on client engagement
broad understanding of direct and indirect team management across multiple work-streams.
experience in conflict management and resolution, training, development and appraisal
effectively assigns responsibilities and sets clear expectations ensuring work results are understood.
continuously aware of process, progress, and results, whilst ensuring feedback is provided for both completion of work and development
ability to solve complex problems and develop solutions as well as teaching and developing others
experience delivering highly complex programs and projects on-time and on-budget
client management and project leadership skills demonstrated through broad consultative experience and knowledge
