description of job: the production supervisor is responsible for the scheduling, material handling and assembly/production of finished product for assigned production cells. this position is also responsible for demonstrating a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, employee engagement and maintaining a cost-effective operation. in addition, the production supervisor is central to ensuring a positive workplace culture for all egi associates.
hours:
monday – friday, 5:30am to 2pm. requires occasional flexibility to work beyond regular shift to attend meetings, collaborate with 2nd shift, participate in special events, etc.
essential duties and responsibilities:
works with the plant manager to develop and maintain production flow and procedures.
handles routine personnel issues including training, coaching and counseling subordinates
communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions
monitor’s production/manpower levels within area of responsibility to ensure continued efficiency while anticipating problems and developing contingencies
maintain a clean and safe plant.
manages and escalates equipment and product quality issues
supports 5s and lean projects and continuously identifies ways to reduce plant operating costs
maintains a positive work relationship with other departments regarding operations procedures and equipment use.
maintains, evaluates and reports on production performance measures to ensure production efficiency and continued improvement utilizing proprietary shop floor reporting system – epcs
identify and participate in kaizen events to continuously improve all plant operations.
participates in company planning meetings as required.
works closely with supply chain management team in determining the daily production schedules
records production and perform backflush within our erp system on a daily basis
supervise train & evaluate production/assembly staff comprised of employees and temporary staff
supervise material handlers and coordinate material movement within work cells and shop floor
establish job descriptions and training procedures employees. with plant manager and hr to coordinate the need of temporary employees
maintains company inventory, scrapping, problem and quality records as directed by the plant manager
works with the cycle counters on an as needed basis to validate inventory accuracy
assists with the annual physical inventory if performed
report defective material issues using dmr to the quality dept on a daily basis
participate in kaizen events on the shop floor to identify area for efficiency gains
works with maintenance dept to implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program
conduct internal department audits of documentation process during production runs
requests purchases of equipment, tools, material handling/storage items as necessary for the operation of work cells
evaluates and identifies the disposition of nonconforming inventory
maintains a safe and clean working environment.
other duties as assigned as it relates to the essential functions of and - engineering degree in a related field (mechanical, manufacturing or industrial). minimum -associates degree with some work towards a 4 year degree.
warehouse/inventory control experience
ms office suite knowledgeable.
bi-lingual/spanish required
minimum 2 year of supervisory experience required in a multiple department setting
supervisory
managing assemblers and material handlers – including but not limited to hiring, training, providing feedback both positive and critical through performance reviews and/or corrective actions
evaluates both egi and contract employees
develops & directs employee training to improve efficiency and ensure with standard procedures and practices.
approve timecards, and submits to hr.
