we have a great opportunity for a support worker to join our inspirational team of support workers in caring for a young lady with a traumatic brain injury. we are looking for experienced, energetic and active individuals to support her.
the support worker will play a key role in facilitating our client’s everyday needs, including rehabilitation therapy, medication, personal care, appointments and social activities. you will be supported by a wider multi-disciplinary team and case management service.
support workers will receive benefits such as:

typical duties
domestic -
to provide ongoing day to day support to the client which will include housekeeping, household cleaning and laundry duties as requested
to liaise with employer, family members, case manager, therapy team and external services to
maintain a high standard of care and provision of a quality service to the client. this could include,
gp, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, consultant and psychology.
to assist in maintaining accurate records, i.e., communication books, petty cash expenditure.
personal care:
to provide all aspects of personal care tasks as outlined in the clients care plan. this will include ensuring continuity and consistency of support, both physical and emotional which reflects the individual’s changing needs. support should, whenever possible, be provided in a manner that promotes verbal and physical independence.
to ensure that all agreed ways of working and procedures are followed for the administration of medication.
ensure that the client’s nutritional needs are met, this includes peg management and following
feeding guidelines from the speech and language therapist and dietician
social:
to ensure that effective communication is carried out at all times using agreed methods which are outlined in the communication care plan and speech and language therapy guidelines.
to actively participate and support the client to engage with the agreed rehabilitation programme as outlined by the therapy team and case manager.
to provide active support, to allow the client to participate as fully as possible in activities both
inside and outside the home.
to accompany the client on holidays if required. during the periods when you are not required to travel with the client you will be paid you contracted hours.
to support the client with leisure activities.
to drive the client to/from activities, appointments.
person specification
the successful applicant will be:
previous care experience and/or therapy background preferred. experience in administering medication and peg trained preferred.
car driver with clean uk licence essential.
minimum of 2 professional references are required.
nvq 2 in health and social care or equivalent qualification desirable.
to be familiar with the health and safety at work act and ensure effective implementation this
during duty.
to assist in maintaining accurate standards of safety and security for the client and liaising with the family and case manager regarding issues which may arise.
able to speak and read english to a reasonable standard
legally permitted to work in the united kingdom
able to work at all times to high standards of health & safety
