senior operations manager / head of ops - north east based role, south of the river. a very dynamic, industry leader would like to modernize their operational leadership. improvement can be made, environmental and behavioural but no fires to put out as such. a constantly improving and growing business which has doubled turnover in the last 6 years due to imagination, leadership and creativity. this is a role for someone passionate about continuous improvement and efficiency with a modern leadership, empowerment, management style.

purpose
reporting to the managing director, this position plays a key part in the strategic direction setting and growth of the business, and is a member of the senior leadership team. the role takes overall responsibility for the operational management and leadership of the following areas:
manufacturing operations
warehouse operations
transport and distribution
hse (health safety and environmental)
the successful head of operations will possess a range of the following:

experience in working within blue chip manufacturing

specific responsibilities
support the delivery of the business strategy, growth, and business plan
assume key account responsibilities for key suppliers identified within the business strategy.
contribute to the collective ownership of the boards agenda and play an influential role within the wider company
anticipate and manage risks inherent within the business.
champion safety, health, environmental and sustainability performance within the business and amongst supply chain partners
champion continuous improvement of delivery and professional standards in achieving operational excellence.
develop the capability and careers of the people in the business to meet the business requirements of right quantity, right quality, right skills, right time.
to be the custodian of and enhance the brand and values in all aspects of the operation.
to ensure there are adequate levels of appropriately inducted and trained resources with the necessary capabilities for current and future production volumes.
to encourage and promote innovation within operations, support the continual enhancement of the business s performance.
effective team leadership and communication - managing monitoring and coaching managers and supervisors by being in regular contact with each area and ensuring that information is communicated throughout the business unit.
