an excellent opportunity for experienced internal manufacturing supervisor to join a well-established company based in poole.

due to recent expansion, they are looking for an internal manufacturing supervisor to join their office team.

the ideal candidate will come from a machining background, or similar and they have experience in: estimating, planning/machine loading & working to narrow deadlines.

based in poole, dorset they are an iso9001 accredited, leading international supplier of high performance equipment for the global energy sector.

about the role:

provide supervision of the manufacturing staff and processes to ensure a smooth flow of work, providing technical assistance where needed. estimating times and costs on a wide range of components produced in internal manufacturing facility. provide ongoing training to the production team. using materials resource planning (mrp) system to load manufacturing and inspection capacity, to achieve narrow deadlines. planning third party processes around manufacturing deadlines. such as heat treating, deep hole drilling and performance coatings. communicating the schedule to staff and that the schedule is being met on daily basis. purchasing the raw material, tooling, and consumable requirements to ensure the smooth flow of production. organizing and scheduling machine maintenance and annual servicing. provide training to new staff and for upskilling and supporting the team to ensure they are able to meet the standards required. ensure that the team are working in a safe manner and reporting any concerns to the manufacturing manager. ensure the work environment is kept clean and tidy. ensure all materials, tools, gauges, and consumables are correctly stored and accessible. facilitate continuous improvement of activities, processes, and procedures. adhere to all policies and procedures. to carry out other duties as required.

responsibilities of managers and supervisors:

the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the hse management system is implemented within the operations under their control. the incumbent must actively monitor the workplace to ensure that acceptable standards are maintained. where risks are identified the incumbent must ensure that these risks are controlled, so far as is reasonably practicable.

ensuring that employees, contractors and visitors are aware of relevant hse procedures
establishing that all equipment, plant and substances used are suitable for the task and are kept in good working condition: this includes the regular maintenance and servicing of equipment
providing adequate training, information, instruction and supervision to ensure that work is conducted without harm to people or the environment
taking immediate and appropriate steps to investigate and rectify any risks to people or the environment arising from the work activity
bringing to the prompt attention of senior management any hse issue that requires their attention
ensuring that all incidents are properly recorded and reported and that an investigation is carried out to establish and rectify root causes
actively participating in the hse management system

candidate requirements:

great communication and interpersonal skills essential. experience using microsoft office, mrp & scheduling systems essential. iso 9001/api q1 experience essential. manufacturing experience essential, ideally machining. production planning/estimating experience preferred. supervisory qualification/experience preferred.

minimum of 2 years production planning or manufacturing experience.
