forklift operator/material handler

fast growing indianapolis based recycling and processing company looking to expand and add people who are highly motivated and want to grow with us.

essential job duties

  • load or unload trucks of scrap metal material (boxed or loose)
  • stage loads for shipment
  • weigh material/track production
  • move material throughout plant to appropriate holding place
  • follow production plans and instructions from supervisors
  • adhere to operational, health, and safety protocols
  • other duties as assigned by the plant manager
  • operate a forklift/front loader
  • follow all safety procedures

    required knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • must have ability and desire to work in all weather types, such as rain, snow, cold, heat, etc. building is neither heated nor cooled.
  • ability to use variety of hand tools such as drills, brooms, shovels, etc.
  • ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently
  • ability to stand and walk for 8 to 10 hours a day
  • ability to work overhead, kneel, and stand for long periods
  • ability to communicate effectively in both spoken and written form

  • this position is exposed to all weather conditions. workers will be provided the following ppe hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, and additional personal protective equipment (ppe) as needed.

    candidates will be required to provide steel toed work boots which must be worn at all times.

  • also must have reliable transportation

  • high school or equivalent

  • required experience:

  • forklift operator: 2 years
