being a chef within one of our care home or retirement kitchens isn’t a ‘behind the scenes’ job. yes, you’ll be pricing and planning menus, preparing food and managing supplies. and, you’ll also be ensuring residents’ quality of life and well-being by running a catering service that is visible and approachable for all residents, their friends, families and fellow colleagues.

you’ll contribute to person-centred care through providing a nutritious diet that meets the needs and choices of individuals and supports the trust’s core values.

you’ll join us with a passion for good food having practised within the guidance and legal frameworks of health and safety, food handling and hygiene. training and induction are provided.

duties:

1. day to day running of the catering service within allocated nursing care home (and associated kitchens/dining area.

2. maintain a visible presence for residents, their friends, families and st monica trust employees.

3. through the provision of a nutritional diet that meets the needs and choices of residents, support the trust’s values of dignity, respect, honesty, care and trust.

4. practice within the guidance and legal frameworks of health and safety, food handling and hygiene, which change from time to time. 5. ensure that all st monica trust’s policies are adhered to at all times.

6. performance and line manage a team of catering assistants (additional responsibilities).
