we are proud to be working in partnership with denstone college where we are looking to recruit a number of catering assistants to join an established and progressive team

£9.90 per hour

20 hours per week

11-3 monday-friday

free onsite parking, gym, swimming pool and lunch

job purpose:

to perform a mixture of roles assisting in the provision of a high standard of culinary produce within the catering department whilst maintaining a healthy and hygienic environment.

outline duties:

the catering assistant is responsible to the site services manager, through the assistant catering manager, front of house manager or the chef supervisor or the front of house supervisor for:

* assist in maintaining the catering department, including the dining hall, at a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene at all times.

* follow the work schedules and complete, in the timescale given.

* ensure the college covid cleaning procedures are followed.

* ensuring the appropriate measures of cleaning products are used, as instructed in the department coshh training provided.

* follow all college policies, and in particular safeguarding and health and safety and covid policy.

* ensure the correct uniform and ppe is worn at all times as provided by the college.

* wash, clean and dry the equipment used for the preparation and service of the food and the crockery, cutlery and glassware provided for the consumption of food.

* assist in the preparation, transporting and serving of food, beverages, crockery, cutlery, glassware, catering equipment and barbecues which may be required in areas other than the dining hall.

* ensure food deliveries are handled and stored correctly

* assist in the preparation and service of all meals for college staff or pupils and for any other functions held within the college.

* lay and clear tables, including the refilling sauce, condiments, pepper and salt containers as required.

* dispose of packaging and waste in accordance with hygienic practices.

* maintain the cleanliness of the changing room provided for the catering staff.

* assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the corridor and litter collection area below the kitchens and the lift used to convey stores between that corridor and the kitchens.

* promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and young persons with whom you come into contact.

* maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.

* pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role and attend training where necessary.

* to develop and maintain a good working relationship with the residents, staff, pupils, contractors and other guests.

* carry out any other duties which may reasonably be requested of you by the site services manager or bursar.
