your new role

your new role as a primary school supply teacher will require you to cover lessons that has been left over by the absent teacher. you will be teaching different age groups 5-11 which ranges from reception up to year 6. you will be delivering the lesson in an appropriate manner depending which class you teach and make sure they are all following the school behaviour policy and whilst being engaged. you will have the assistance of a teaching assistant whilst managing the classroom allowing you to build up your teamwork skills and working with others. you may also be required to mark the students work if required. you will have the option of working on a part time or full-time basis suiting your availability and commitments.

what you'll need to succeed

to be successful supply teacher you must be able to work well with children and be able to follow a plan accordingly. you must hold a qts and have previous experience teaching or supply teaching a class. this role will require you to also mark work so being able to give feedback criticising, advising, and helping the child improve will be essential. you must be able to work well within a team working alongside your other colleagues.
