an exciting opportunity has come up within a professional not-for-profit organisation, as they are looking for a media & communications manager to join their busy office located in great yarmouth. this organisation prides itself on putting people at the forefront, and embracing change.
your new role
the purpose of this role is to lead the corporate communication activities, both internally and externally, in order to support the delivery of strategic priorities set out in the corporate plan. you'll be working between wider teams, liaising with senior managers and councillors, and to provide corporate communications support to assist work across the authority. this support includes to directly line manage the communications and media officer setting objectives, and monitoring performance.
you will be required to prepare for senior members for media interviews, to advise them on managing communication risks and corporate messaging. alongside this, writing press releases and statements, responding appropriately to media requests, interviews, and filming/photography permits. this role may involve weekend working.
what you'll need to succeed
you will need at least three years demonstrable public relations and corporate communications experience within a busy public sector environment. you will need experience in social media, digital and printed publications, corporate communications and implementing multi-channel campaigns. you will need line management experience, including of setting staff objectives, supporting development and monitoring performance. a basic knowledge of media and publicity protocols is desirable. strong skills in public relations and journalistic news-sense is essential for this role.
