job title: chef tutor - sen location: minehead salary: gbp23,573.90 - gbp27,603.92 + gbp1,500 specialist tutor allowance time frame: permanent (september start) hours: full-time (40 hours per week, term time only) simply education is currently working with a specialist college and training hotel for young people, aged 16-25, with learning disabilities, situated in the friendly seaside town of minehead. this college believe in changing lives by helping their students shape their own future with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed. this amazing college is looking for a chef tutor to join their awesome team. as a chef tutor your role is to plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate inspiring, engaging and individualised food preparation sessions of the highest quality that challenge and stretch every student. this role is to help equip the students with the support and resources they need to find sustainable employment in the hospitality sector and to live independently. you will also be responsible for promoting a professional attitude and approach with students and support staff, helping students develop the skills required to be 'work ready as well as life ready . key duties: - as a tutor you are expected to plan, prepare, deliver and evaluate inspiring, engaging, and individualised sessions of the highest quality that challenge and stretch every student. - you are expected to support the students professionally, effectively and sensitively in their learning. - you need to be able to manage student behaviour professionally and effectively, seeking further advice and guidance where appropriate. - every student is expected to make progress in each session and that this progress is recorded, evidenced and evaluated effectively and efficiently. - deliver professional, inspiring, and engaging sessions of the highest quality that challenge and stretch every student, and in which all students are motivated and engaged throughout. we expect every tutor to be fully always engaged in the session without exception. - you must be familiar with, and actively use the principles of rarpa (recognising and recording progress and achievement). - to maintain and develop further the highest professional standards within food preparation. - to prepare food to the highest standards in line with hotel menus, whilst training students to industry standards. qualifications, knowledge and skills needed: - level 2 in english & maths - city and guilds hospitality and catering level 2 or equivalent (level 3 desirable) - level 4 certificate in education (desirable) - experience of working in a hospitality catering setting. - experience in vocational education (desirable). - experience of working in a team setting. - food hygiene certificate (desirable). - allergens knowledge (desirable). - working with young vulnerable adults or children (desirable). this college offers great benefits: - full training and continued support - opportunity to gain qualifications, which will be funded by the college! - life assurance and pension - health cash back plan - car lease scheme - bike to work scheme - perk box - free parking this is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to really make a difference, why not let that person be you if you are interested in this role, please click 'apply now', forward an up-to-date copy of your cv to (url removed) or call me on (phone number removed)
