the fire service in nottinghamshire is seeking to recruit to a newly created development role within our human resources team.

this is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are seeking to become professionally qualified and develop a career within human resources in a public sector environment.

this is a development/career graded role with entry grade for all applicants being grade 4. progression through the grade structure being subject to successful completion of the prescribed competency / professional qualification requirements. the service will fund the cipd level 5 diploma in people management.

the service has recently moved to a new headquarters and is undergoing significant ongoing organisational change. hr is playing a key role in delivering the change agenda and you will need to demonstrate a positive approach and adaptability to working in this environment.

specific responsibilities will include a full range of recruitment activities, contribute to the review/development of people policy, procedure and emerging issues and undertake people and operational hr activity as required.

with experience of operating in a hr environment, you will be qualified to minimum level 3 cipd foundation certificate in people practice or equivalent. you will have experience of undertaking a full range of recruitment and selection work, drafting hr policy or procedural documents and have an ability to analyse hr metrics and produce management reports.

you should have a knowledge of employment legislation have and be an excellent the communicator with the ability to build relationships with all stakeholders.

working in a busy department you will have an ability to plan workloads to meet deadlines, complete work to a high standard, be highly motivated and committed to self and continuous professional development. you will need to be an excellent team player, values driven and have a real willingness to contribute to the work undertaken by the wider professional hr team.
