job title: night porter (part-time)

dudsbury golf club has a 26 bedroom hotel, with three function rooms and separate bistro as well as catering for small functions and busy mid week corporate trade. successful applicant will enjoy working with a variety of clients, working alongside our friendly professional team.

this is a position of responsibility taking care of the premises, hotel and guests during the night.

main tasks & responsibilities

duties include, serving at the bar until guests retire, setting up for breakfast, deep cleaning all public areas during the night inline with our strict covid19 secure procedures, guest relations basic room service ie sandwich preparation, early check outs and handover, securing the hotel.

responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the security of the hotel during the night:

general cleaning duties.

checking in of guests after the receptionist has finished his/her shift.

responsible for cleaning work and special tasks as requested by management ie setting up the bistro for business next day.

in the event of an emergency to summon management and / or emergency services.

· take over the night shift from the duty receptionist and check for any messages, late arrivals, early check-outs , newspapers and early breakfasts etc.

· read the night porters diary book for any messages.

· collect a copy of the occupancy list from the duty receptionist. this list contains information on the numbers of guests/occupied rooms (needed if there is a fire). it also includes the unoccupied rooms, which need to be checked as per the check list.

ensure that all messages and correspondence are properly dealt with and passed onto the morning receptionist. also, pass on information about anything that happened during the night, in person and in the night porters diary.

· using the check list: check all the empty rooms, windows, landings, doors, guest lounges, kitchen, office, golf buggy compound and any other duties commensurate with this position. holiday & sickness cover will also be required.

personal profile

mature person who should be 100% trustworthy, able to act responsibly in cases of emergency and not to panic. flexible enough to deal with customers in a polite firm manner yet able to clean and work on own initiative. must have previous experience in a similar role.

must have own transport as we are not on a public transport route.
