Inventory control specialist - united states, richmond (indiana)
together with our client we are looking for an inventory planning specialist. this key manufacturing team member will be working full-time, position is 1st shift located in new carlisle in.
this individual will coordinate with customer service representatives to determine individual customer needs and scheduling requirements ensuring materials are available as planned. using this information will assist in scheduling the paint and slitting lines.
essential duties & responsibilities
maintaining adequate paint inventory based on current/future demand and inventory characteristics such as lead times, current orders, safety stock requirements, expiration dates, etc.
develop a cycle count system and schedule for both paint and metal to ensure accuracy and eliminate the need for full physical inventory events resulting in lost production.
perform cycle counts on paint and metal inventory themselves or through others.
investigate and correct discrepancies in reported quantities and locations of all paint and metal inventory.
place paint orders in a timely and accurate manner based on individual paint company performance and schedule.
review expiration dates of paint and develop plans to minimize and utilize/dispose of it before expiration.
assist customer service in developing schedules for the paint line and slitting line.
review and adjust inventory planning parameters in erp system as needed.
build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
training employees in cycle counting and scanning procedures and techniques.
coordinating activities with other supervisory personnel or with other work units or departments
be willing to learn and become proficient in new skills as directed
performing other jobs not directly related to inventory and planning as directed
qualifications & competencies
able to pass pre employment drug screen and background check
minimum of 3 years of experience with erp systems utilizing inventory management and scheduling. netsuite experience a plus.
associates or bachelor’s degree in business, management, supply chain, or related discipline. an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be considered.
experience using a barcode scanning system.
proficiency with enterprise resource planning (erp) systems.
excellent verbal and written communication skills.
proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
excellent customer service skills.
proficiency with microsoft excel.
