the strong team of highly qualified staff have extensive and varied experience. both teaching and non-teaching staff share a commitment to high standards of learning, discipline and care for the personal wellbeing of each student. we are currently looking for a qualified finance director to join our team.

responsibilities will include:

supervising the academy’s computerised finance accounting package ensuring that required back-ups are carried out and kept securely
establishing appropriate working relationships with all governors (especially the chairs of pay & personnel, finance & contracts committees and audit and risk group) and staff, including the headteacher and the slt
liaising with other academies /selective schools for peer support and benchmarking as appropriate and to undertake responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up to date with developments related to school efficiency which leads to improvements in the day to day running of the school
maintaining awareness of, and commitment to, the academy equal opportunity policies in relation to both employment and service delivery
undertaking all other duties as required commensurate with the grade of the post

the successful candidate will be:

able to demonstrate expertise in sound financial management that is compliant with financial regulations including
education & skills funding agency requirements
an excellent team player, working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and with key stakeholders
able to demonstrate initiative in identifying cost efficiencies and income generation opportunities
experienced in liaising with auditors qualified member of icaew, cima, acca, or cipfa
highly organised, trustworthy and reliable, and able to manage a complex workload

the successful candidate will be accountable to the headteacher and should be committed to providing high standards of accuracy within the role, with the ability to communicate effectively to staff and stakeholders. a passion and desire to support the school’s aims, further develop a strong team, promote compliance with financial controls, drive financial efficiencies as well as provide financial guidance, direction and support to staff is essential.

previous experience in an education setting would be an advantage; however, proven experience of general financial management and budget preparation and monitoring is essential.
