general description of position
responsible for conceptualizing, designing, developing, and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes.
key responsibilities
essential duties and responsibilities
designs new and revises existing production fixtures/tooling and processes.
supports manufacturing by introducing production processes and revising manufacturing processes for cost savings.
develops production floor layout/planning to increase efficiency, quality, productivity and reduce floor space & lead times.
gathers, analyzes, and interprets data from ergonomics evaluations to develop the lowest total cost solution.
creates and maintains process instructions. trains employees on the process instructions.
improves product workflow and efficiency.
creates specifications for new shop floor equipment and layouts.
performs process cost analysis.
participates in cross-functional and cross-cultural team environment.
leads and helps implement continuous improvement activities.
travel up to 50% of time to support manufacturing sites in process improvements.
performs other related duties as required or assigned.

knows arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
knows and predicts physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and their applications to understand fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics; understands mechanical and electrical structures and processes.

uses complex and noncomplex machines and equipment.
education and experience
bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (required).
five years of related experience (required).
master’s degree in a relevant field could substitute for years of experience.
computer skills
intermediate: cad software, alphanumeric data entry, spreadsheet.
basic: word processing/typing.
physical activities
while performing the functions of this job, the employee is:
continually required to stand or walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
occasionally required to sit.
the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
