Warehouse lead - 1st shift - united states, port washington

  • oversee the day to day warehouse operations to safely and productively meet facility demands by reading production schedules, pick lists, and being responsible for all aspects of inbound and outbound offloading, loading and warehouse stocking processes.
  • oversee operations ensuring timely and correct picking of raw material needed for scheduled production by delegating to material handlers.
  • ensure of loading and transportation of the raw material out of the warehouse to the correct trailers.
  • scheduling drivers to ferry loaded trailers with raw materials to correct plant.
  • contact customer or carriers when there is a received goods issue or to arrange shipments.
  • responsible for the material handlers in the warehouse: attendance, commendations, discipline, and training.
  • must create shipping documentation and ensure it's accuracy.
  • must be proficient with computer software, internal inventory programs, and physically capable to go into trailers or in the warehouse to find materials.
  • when the warehouse supervisor or another manager is not available, the lead will be the “go to” person in addition to directing personnel.
  • requirements
  • high school diploma or general education degree (ged); or one or two years related experience and/or training.
  • prior experience (six (6) months to one (1) year) in shipping or related area.
  • requires strong organizational and time-management skills with good attention to detail and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects.must have good problem solving skills.
  • pc skills including microsoft office (word, excel, access, powerpoint) as well as experience with microsoft outlook, mrp software, and inventory software. must have basic knowledge of spreadsheets, e-mail, and inventory/manufacturing software programs. understanding of mrp concepts and erp system functionality
  • be physically capable to go into trailers or in the warehouse to find materials on pallets.
  • ability to read a pick-list and use an electronic inventory control system.
  • strong attention to detail with strong communication skills
  • proven ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with information.
  • ability to maintain a safe, clean, organized warehouse and work area.
