responsibilites & qualifications for shipping associate
• properly and accurately complete all required paperwork to ensure product is ready to ship in a timely manner and conform to corporate policies and comply with import/export laws.
• generate & compare rates for ltl carriers, ups & fedex along with delivery time to determine best method of shipping. record shipping data into computer records. coordinate with operations manager to ensure orders ship on time.
• ensure all orders shipped meet customer guidelines and deadlines. confirm all records for orders are complete and correct prior to shipment
• effectively communicate with logistic carriers and freight forwarders.
• proactively communicate with internal departments while working through daily activities.
• compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• assembles wooden or cardboard containers and packages product for shipment.
• posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
