a fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our client's processing plant as a mechanical engineer. this a permanent position and comes with a generous pay package and desirable working structure. producing fishmeal and fish oil, our client works in partnership with the local processing community and play a vital role in recycling fish by-products.

job purpose: engineering support for process equipment and systems.

equipment: screw conveyors, pumps, steam boilers, gearboxes, bearings, high speed centrifuges,

valves, instrumentation, compressed air systems, rotating machinery, steam systems, and other process equipment.

some of your key activities will include:

main duties:

* installation, improvement, repair, maintenance and manufacture of united fish industries' equipment

* carry out preventive maintenance routines to ensure maximum reliability of plant and process equipment.

* carry out boiler safety tests as per uk hse requirements.

* advise, supervise and co-ordinate engineering tasks and ensure that these tasks are executed in a timely and effective manner with due regard to production requirements and priorities.

* ensure that all tasks are completed in accordance with relevant standards and practices.

* ensure that all works are tested under duty conditions before handing over to production.

* keep engineering records up-to-date with work history and any other relevant supporting engineering documentation

* promote a "can-do" culture within the engineering department.

* liaise with engineering contractors and suppliers.

* demonstrate competitive purchase of engineering services, parts and consumables.

* ensure that engineering spares are replaced when used and that spare parts are easily identifiable.

* develop and document engineering instructions for engineering tasks.

* ensure that tasks are carried out with due regard to the required health and safety standards.

* comply with and support the management of the haccp plan and feed safety standards in raw material, intermediate and final products

* keep work areas clean and tidy.

* keep management appraised of engineering issues.
