salary: £12 - 15 per hour

39.5 hours a week from 8.00 am to 4.30 pm monday to thursday and 8.00 am to 4.00 pm on fridays (30 mins for lunch)

about the role:

you will be part of a great team, working within a modern and clean environment, producing high precision parts and components for the aerospace industry. the nature of the work is small to medium batch with medium to high complexity. the primary focus of this role is to undertake deburring and finish polishing of aerospace products ensuring a consistent, flexible, and responsive service is always provided to meet production schedules.

responsibilities:

the key purpose of the role is to deburr and polish machined parts to customer requirements using various hand tools manual scrapers, oil stones, polishing paper, air operated burring tools, pillar drills fitted with various brushes and polishing mops and occasionally manual lathes. experience in other manual disciplines such as assembly would be a distinct advantage.

competent with the use of the above tooling and methods.
being a competent self-motivated problem solver with a can-do attitude. working alongside others in different departments within the company to achieve a common end goal.
being able to interpret engineering drawings.
being able to work to instruction’s both written and verbal.
being aware of tooling available both existing and what is commercially available and utilize accordingly
ensuring accurate job timings are recorded within our operating system, i.e. logging on and off current job you are working on.
setting machines within allocated time & suggesting / making improvements where possible.
ensuring correct information is logged on to tooling set up sheets including ensuring that any amendments are updated accordingly.
working in an efficient competent manner to ensure jobs are completed to a high standard on time.
ensuring component submitted for first off inspection meets drawing requirements first time.
maintain 5-star standards on the shop floor.
upholding the company’s dignity at work charter by contributing to a respectful working environment.

experience and skills required:

experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
a good standard of general education with basic computer and numerical skills.
astute attention to detail with steady hand-eye coordination.
good organisational skills, methodical and accurate.
good communications skills (written & verbal).
able to work to tight tolerances without scrap.
ability to listen to instructions and advice when provided.
self-motivated with a desire to provide excellent customer service.
flexible & able to work on own initiative but willing to work as a team to achieve objectives of division.
committed to continuous improvement.
demonstrates integrity in all aspects of the role.
a flexible approach to the role to meet changing business demands which may include overtime attendance to suit the production plans and priorities.
