about this client/child:

tom is 12 years old, living in a beautiful, fully adapted house with his mum, dad, and brother and sister. tom is a bright, witty, and responsive boy, with a wicked sense of humour! he loves being around people, having books read to him out loud, and visiting art galleries and museums. tom has cerebral palsy and developmental delay that affects him physically, he is a wheelchair user. tom uses eye gaze to support his communication. he is fed and has his medication via a gastrostomy and is completely dependent on others for all his physical/personal care needs. tom is supported at home and in school by a team of support workers, therapists, and waking night carers.

overview of role:

after a busy day at school, you’ll support tom with his personal care needs, homework, feeding, implementing his therapy programmes, and of course, have lots of engagement; playing games and doing fun activities! tom’s mum will typically be with his siblings, but at times they will join in the activities with tom too. tom comes home on school transport between 4.00pm/4.30pm. during the school holidays, there will be more time for enjoyable outings such as visits to museums and art galleries. term time: 3.30pm to 8.00pm and school holidays: 8.30am to 7.30pm. the role offers a competitive hourly rate of £17.50 gross, which is £24,797.50 gross per annum for the stated hours.

this role will suit a confident and energetic support worker. you’ll be a driver for activities during the school holidays (experience driving an adapted vehicle is not essential as tom’s parents will give you guidance/practice). this is a permanent role so it will suit someone looking for a secure long-term job.
