we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our complex needs team in truro/ falmouth area as a relief support worker.

you will be lone working with people who have complex needs including substance misuse, mental ill-heath, fleeing domestic abuse and any other challenging issues. providing a holistic service assisting with health and wellbeing, housing, maintaining tenancies, sign-posting and emotional support. you will need to take a creative approach to support, adapting your style of communication with each individual to provide a person centred approach and help customers establish and work towards their goals and aspiration

you will be working part of a team of 4 support workers and you will be supported by a team leader and team manager. your workload will be around 15 customers at any one time, that you will visit weekly, which will give you the time and capacity to provide a high quality service. you will be a part of a larger team, who support people with complex needs across mid-cornwall. we are very proud of our work and helping people is at the heart of everything we do.

this role is being offered on a relief basis, working flexibly to include weekdays and weekends as and when cover is required.

about the candidate

to be considered for the role of relief support worker, you will:

have experience of risk assessing and risk management

ideally have experience of night and lone working

be a great communicator with the ability to build a rapport

confident in lone working and be a good team player

have a flexible approach to work

be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines

be resilient and adaptable

be able to demonstrate the skills required to support individuals

be able to demonstrate an understanding of adult vulnerabilities in a supported housing environment

have the ability to adopt a methodical, organised approach to work

we are looking for someone who is motivated to make a positive contribution to the lives of the people we support and a "can do" approach to their work. experience in a similar role would be desirable, however what is most important is having a passion for helping people in the local community. this role will be challenging at times as you will be working with and supporting clients across a range of difficult and challenging issues/behaviours; an attention to detail, using your initiative and problem solving will be key.
