Senior ev test technician - united kingdom, loughton, essex

scope/purpose: this new role has been created to support the continued development of ev propulsion test capabilities in milton keynes. in addition to the existing ev powertrain test capabilities, intertek is investing in a significant new facility that will double the ev powertrain test offerings, cementing our position as market leader for ev propulsion testing. the focus of this role is to maximise operational efficiency and revenue generation by supporting ev propulsion test programmes on an alternating shift pattern. there may also be a requirement to support combustion engine testing as the need arises. applicants must be highly motivated and possess a strong ambition to succeed. while the points noted below form the core of the role, we expect the ideal candidate to be flexible and supportive of the business needs as they evolve. responsibilities • responsible for operation of multiple test rigs outside of normal office hours using defined test methods and scripts • help to implement and follow safe systems of work • support the installation and calibration of data acquisition systems • support the debugging and commissioning of complex electronic systems with high speed serial interfaces (can/flexray etc) • ensure that the data generated is valid and in line with customer requirements • liaise with colleagues, customers and suppliers in a professional manner • ensure all instrumentation used is calibrated in line with company procedures • ensure high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation in the cell and associated workshop areas key goals • maintain efficient facility operation outside of office hours with engineer support • work with a variety of software environments for the execution of test methods and the acquisition and processing of test data • support rig or cell operation and installation with mechanical assembly & disassembly tasks • support rig or cell operation and installation with electrical assembly & disassembly tasks, particularly with an awareness of compliance for electrical cabling and connections, correct cable routing and containment, and soldering skills • gain knowledge of multi-phase electrical applications • become familiar with power analyser test equipment • machining knowledge milling, turning, tolerancing, material basics and properties • ability to interpret cad drawings for rigging purposes required skills and experience • vocational qualification in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline is desirable, but extensive experience will also be considered • excellent communication skills within the ev powertrain team • adaptability and applied learning • ability to work autonomously • maintaining clear and traceable documentation • strong h&s awareness and understanding beneficial skills and experience • ev powertrain, battery, hybrid systems knowledge • experience of ev powertrain or hybrid system test operations • knowledge of ac and dc electrical systems
